Bruzil – IRN-BRU

In June 2010, when the St Andrew’s Cross was once again absent from the World Cup stands, IRN-BRU thought it was about time something was done about it. Scotland has the best fans in the world, so why shouldn’t they have the best football team too?

So Leith created  ‘Bruzil: The road to 2034’. A simple yet potentially revolutionary idea: let’s unite Scots and Brazilians to forever enhance the Scottish footballing gene pool… creating phenomenal future players for the world’s biggest football tournament in 2034.

If Scots and Brazilians get together, beautiful babies could be born with all of Scotland’s legendary sporting spirit… but with a dash of the DNA that gives Brazilian’s their world-beating football flair. By 2034, these ‘Bruzil babies’ could be the answer that Scottish football fans everywhere have been waiting for.

The campaign kicked off in the legendary city of Rio, with lonely-hearts adverts and billboards appealing to single Brazilians to consider a Scottish mate. Meanwhile, back in Scotland, Archie Gemmill was at the forefront of the campaign, urging Scots to get involved with the help of some lovely Brazilian dancers. This cry for the Scottish public to get behind the campaign was reinforced by TV, Radio, digital and PR.

Short films documenting a Bruzilian child’s life culminated in the astounding Scottish 2034 line up featuring Flavio McFadden, a 2-3-1-4 attacking formation and a player’s fractured forehead from scoring too many headers in a group win over England.

With all these Bruzilian efforts, Scotland will undoubtedly lift the cup in 2034 thanks to IRN-BRU. Now, isn’t that phenomenal?
